  1. Hello, Rabbi Kessin,

Rabbi Ari Goldwag suggested that I contact you. He published an article about Cheshvan on Aish.com, which I came across while looking for some Cheshvan chomer to share with my students in Bais Yaakov of Baltimore High School last week before Rosh Chodesh.

One of the ideas that he mentioned was about Mordechai and Esther, descendants of Shevet Binyamin, being the link to reunite Bnei Yisroel with Eretz Yisroel and the Beis Hamikdash, after their tenure in Galus. Binyamin, juxtaposed by his mother, is the one who represents Bnei Yisroel in Eretz Yisroel at times of completion and redemption, as explained at length in the article…

This idea would fit perfectly into the Esther section of our school’s upcoming Exhibit on the seven Nevios. The students will transform the school into an art expo, depicting the personas of these great women. I am an advisor to the Esther committee, and I contacted Rabbi Goldwag as to the source of that piece of information. This was his reply: “The idea is based on a piece I saw years ago in a sefer of collected writings from the Ramchal. I can’t tell you the exact name of the sefer it came out of, but it was one of the green sefarim printed by R’ Chaim Friedlander. Rabbi’s Shimon and Mendel Kessin might be able to tell you the source. I know the Ramchal speaks about the connection of Binyomin/Yosef/Yehuda and the Beis Hamikdash. I’m not sure if I inferred the idea with Esther and it’s my own chiddush or if Ramchal writes it explicitly. You are welcome to research it – I’m interested in the results.”

Would you have any idea of which source Rabbi Goldwag is referring?

    Thank you for your time.

    1. i’ll print this and show to R’ Mendel – will reply as soon as i hear from him. it’s usually not too easy to introduce to him longer questions – because he is in the middle of something, and it’s not practical to distract him on something extensive. but will try…
